Licensing MapSpeller™ in U.S. Educational Institutions

In addition to offering discounts on single copy & volume licenses to educational institutions or individual instructors, Edgetech America, Inc. also offers two additional mechanisms for educational institutions to license MapSpeller for educational purposes only. They are:
  1. The Educational Lab License Agreement
  2. The Educational Institution Enterprise License Agreement (ELA).

With both agreements, the software expires when the contract ends.

The Educational Lab License Agreement

The lab contract enables educational institutions to install and use MapSpeller in a single lab room and computer network on up to 30 named PCs, including up to three instructor PCs. The instructors' PCs do not need to be on the lab network.

The Educational Enterprise License Agreement (ELA)

By signing such contracts, educational institutions are renting unlimited licenses of MapSpeller on a single network domain and for for educational purposes only. The Educational ELA has the following benefits over the single copy & volume licensing mechanism:

  • Non-discrimination: All ArcGIS Desktop students and instructors are offered the same opportunity to create typo-free maps and data
  • Spreading usage cost over the life of the contract (three years), avoiding initial higher cost of purchasing licenses
  • Flexibility: No need to purchase additional licenses as the use of ArcGIS increases
  • Lower unit cost.
