Licensing Options

MapSpellerfor ArcGIS can be licensed in a variety of ways in the United States:
  1. On a per-desktop basis

This type of licensing is well suited for purchasing:

  • Any number of licenses when cash flow is available at purchase time
  • When purchasing licenses for fewer than 20 users.

Although MapSpeller will run for three years on the version of ArcGIS for which it was initially designed, users benefit greatly from subscribing to the MapSpeller maintenance plan. Under the plan, users receive MapSpeller updates and technical support free of charge. Both ArcMap and MapSpeller are evolving quickly and it's important to keep both in sync. The first year of maintenance is included with the per-desktop license purchase of MapSpeller.

  1. On a Citrix per-named-user basis

Organizations that deploy ArcGIS Desktop through Citrix (or other terminal server technology) and that want to deploy MapSpeller to a limited number of Citrix users can license MapSpeller in a manner similar to the "per-desktop basis" method, but the software will be tied to specific Citrix individual users and can't be shared among individuals. The purchase price includes keycodes for a single server. Keycodes and support for backup servers are available at the cost of maintenance (per server).

  2. By signing an Enterprise License Agreement (ELA)

With ELAs, organizations rent the MapSpeller software for the duration of the contract (typically 3 years). The software expires when the contract ends. The pricing is typically based on the total number of ArcMap users at the inception of the contract. ELAs enable:

  1. Governments to gain access to unlimited amounts of MapSpeller software
  2. Private-sector organizations to increase their original MapSpeller seats by 50% annually without extra charge
  3. Organizations to evenly spread the cost of MapSpeller over the duration of the contract
  4. Organizations to easily manage many MapSpeller users.

Depending on the type of organization, one or several of the following ELAs may be available:

  1. Small Municipalities and Counties ELA
  2. Small Utilities ELA
  3. Educational ELA. Educational institutions can also take advantage of Educational Lab License Agreements.
  4. Standard ELA. The Standard ELA is available to all organizations. The minimum number of users taken into consideration is 20.
