Many ArcGIS® users have expressed an interest in
Edgetech's development plans for the MapSpeller™ extension. To help them
manage their resources and achieve error-free geodatabases and maps,
Edgetech is sharing some of its preliminary development plans here,
which are subject to change without notice.
MapSpeller 3.0
Already
available online.

In addition to spell-checking the layout and map objects supported at
MapSpeller version 2.1, it will spell
check and correct:
- Table field values,
- Incl. annotation & labeling fields
- Conventionally and/or spatially.

Users current with their software maintenance
can download and use the upgrade free of charge.
MapSpeller 3.1
The focus of MapSpeller 3.1 will be its port to
ArcGIS 10.
Post-MapSpeller 3.1
Beyond the 3.1 release of MapSpeller, Edgetech
intends on progressively adding support for the following:
- Field names and aliases
- Sharing an organization's Locationary™
among its MapSpeller users
- Using domains as dictionaries
- Using valid file system paths as dictionaries
- Optional French and Spanish language dictionaries
in 2010. Danish, Dutch, Finish, German, Italian, Portuguese,
Brazilian Portuguese, and Swedish should be added later on. Middle
Eastern languages are also under consideration. [Note that
Locationaries can already contain spellings in multiple languages].
- Direct support for map labels
- Direct support for annotation feature
classes (geodatabase annotations).
Edgetech America, Inc. also plans
on commercializing MapSpeller internationally; starting in 2010 with
select countries outside of the U.S.A.
MapSpeller 4.0
Edgetech plans to start integrating MapSpeller
with ArcGIS Server at version 4.0.
