Overview of How to Use the MapSpeller Toolbar

Once the MapSpeller extension has been installed, and you and the PC are registered with Edgetech America, Inc., the MapSpeller toolbar is ready to be used. It will enable you to spell check annotation graphics (graphic text) on the layout page itself and/or inside data frames laying on that layout page. Annotation feature classes, grouped graphics and legends can be spell checked, but only indirectly. MapSpeller is expected to spell check additional types of textual objects such as in legends in future versions.

The starting point of the spell checking process is the MapSpeller toolbar with the layout view active. The toolbar is where one:

  1. Sets the spelling options such as the language, dictionaries and locationaries to be used
  2. Determines what will be spell checked on the layout page
  3. Starts the spell checking process itself

If typos are found, the Potential Typos dialog is shown that lets users identify typos, then bookmark, fix or ignore them.
